Car lockouts cluster where people park in a hurry: the Coliseum lots after a game, the economy lot at OAK with a flight already boarding, the Fruitvale and MacArthur BART garages at the end of a commute, a curb on Lakeshore Ave with the engine still running. Estuary Lock & Key reaches all of them, 24/7, at a rate fixed before anyone drives.
The tech uses an inflatable wedge and a long-reach tool to trip the interior handle or the lock button, which is how the paint, the weatherstrip and the glass stay intact. Newer cars with flush handles or deadlocking systems need a different reach angle, not a different price bracket. Give the year, make and model on the call, and mention a child, a pet or medication inside so the van moves first. Ownership is confirmed with ID and registration or an insurance card before the door opens.
The range is $89 to $155. A daytime door on a common sedan or crossover is the low end, which is the service call itself. Trunk-only lockouts, cars that deadlock when the fob is inside, and some European models with reinforced seals reach $155. Evening arrivals from 8pm to midnight add $35, which makes the $89 job $124; overnight arrivals from midnight to 7am add $70, for $159. Nothing else appears at the window.
You call, the rate is locked, and a text tells you who is coming, in what van, and when. At the car the tech checks ownership, opens the door, and makes sure the key is actually inside before leaving. If the key turns out to be lost instead of locked in, the car key replacement rate is quoted on the spot as a separate line. Card or tap at the car, receipt in your inbox before you pull out.
“Locked the keys in my Camry in the Arena lot after a concert, around 10:30 at night. The call gave me $145: $110 for the opening and $35 for the evening. Text came through with the tech's name and a white van, and he found me in the sea of cars in about twenty minutes. Opened it with a wedge and a reach tool, no damage, and I paid with tap on his reader.”
Every job is quoted from the list below. The rate you hear on the call is locked, written on the work order and repeated on the receipt.
- Daytime (7am–8pm)standard rates
- Evening (8pm–12am)+$35
- Overnight (12am–7am)+$70
FAQ
Car Lockout: quick answers
Do you come into the OAK airport lots?+
Yes, both the daily garage and the economy lot off Doolittle Drive. Send the lot name and the row or space number in a text, because the lots are large and the tech cannot check forty identical rows. Airport arrival runs about 22 minutes from the city.
My car is at the Coliseum and the game just ended. Is it still $89?+
In daytime, yes. If the game ended after 8pm the evening surcharge applies and the number is $124; after midnight it is $159. Event traffic slows arrival, so the text window may be longer than usual, but the rate does not move because of it.
Can you open a Tesla or a Rivian?+
Yes. EV doors are still mechanical inside, and the tech reaches the interior release without scratching the handle. Have your phone key or card ready to drive off, since the opening does not unlock the car's software.
